It feels great shooting weddings in families we’ve shot before. There’s history there for us, and familiar faces. It’s like coming back to a book we have loved before, and discovering entirely new chapters. We love the continuity, and the stories take on a depth for us that we feel incredibly privileged to witness.
Elaine was her sister Erica’s maid of honor two years ago, and I can draw her photos from that wedding by memory. If I could draw. I can’t. Haha. But that’s not the point. There’s this one of her peeking through a doorway to look for Erica that charmed me, and she did the same on the morning of her wedding to sneak a peek at her groom when he arrived. You can see Erica and Nicco’s wedding here. I couldn’t help but cry when Elaine danced with her father. It has been an honor seeing him walk both his girls down the aisle.
Richmond and Elaine are undeniably in love, and were a treat to photograph. You can see it in how her entire face lights up when she looks at him, and how he takes such good care of her. She wore 5-inch heels and had a hard time walking on the grass, so he carried her everywhere instead, like it was no biggie, like he’s done it before (probably), and you know he’d do it every single day if he had to.
It felt wonderful to return to this home in the middle of a pineapple plantation, and being able to see it in another light. There was that day after a typhoon, and then there’s this sunny day. Both strikingly beautiful in very different ways. Elaine’s dress by Kristel Yulo and bouquet by Zenas Pineda were perfect for her, and the combination was dreamy.
It has been weeks, but I am still majorly hungover from this wedding. Richmond and Elaine, thank you for the trust and this experience. We went home with endless good vibes, which I’m going to keep in a glass bottle somewhere in case of emergency, in case sometime over the next decade I forget. This is why we do what we do. Much love to you both.
