As if straight out of a movie, Alain and Kathy met on a flight — he being a pilot, and she a flight attendant. There was wooing, a long distance relationship, and an earlier scheduled wedding that didn’t push through. But things like this, they happen at their most perfect time. And at its most perfect time, it did. We consider ourselves fortunate to have been a part of this.
We shot their engagement session a couple of weeks before their wedding, and I just love how everything fit and fell into place. The location was perfect for them, and Jeff got a massive kick out of shooting inside an airplane. He had a look on his face that wasn’t much unlike, “Ooh, buttons!!” I had a feeling he was *thisclose* to pushing all the buttons and flipping all the switches.
We got to know them better over the course of the engagement shoot and dinner, and I have to say I’m quite smitten with these two. He looks after her. She doesn’t really need it. She strikes me as quite the capable woman, and perhaps that is the best part: that she is, and he does anyway.
At their wedding, she gave him a box of handwritten letters she wrote while they were apart. She wrote them on motion sickness bags, during her flights. I find that so charmingly real. There’s something about handwritten letters that gets to me like nothing else can. I keep a box of handwritten letters from Jeff myself, from way back in high school. You can see why I married him. Haha.
Alain and Kathy, it’s been an absolute pleasure. Wishing you much, much love, always.
