Jeff and I love shooting both portraits and candids. I think one of the biggest things that define our work is how we take and mix both. For Cyril and Linda’s wedding, they specifically requested for very, very few portraits, and for us to be even more documentary than we already are. We took it as a challenge and, as always, shot our hearts out. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as we did taking them. It was a gorgeous wedding filled with love and happiness from friends and family who came from all over. If I remember correctly, that would be South Africa, France, Monaco, Dubai, and Singapore.
There were three things that particularly moved me. The first was how Linda sewed her father’s name into the lining of her dress as her “something blue”. Then there was how her brother teared up when he saw her in her dress, and how he held on to her hand so tightly as he walked her down the aisle. And most importantly, how the wedding wasn’t just in celebration of Cyril and Linda, but their son as well. This might be unusual for a wedding photographer, but I don’t consider weddings a necessity. You don’t have to get married to love with everything you have and spend the rest of your lives together, and you can have a family and be completely happy without ever getting married. But when you do, when you choose to, when you want to, even when you’re perfectly fine without, then it means the whole world.
Cyril and Linda, you have such a beautiful little family, and we’re honored to have been there with you. We wish you every happiness. Much love from our family to yours.
