When I said October was engagement shoot month for us, I wasn’t kidding. We’ve been posting nothing but those for a couple of weeks now and there’s still so much left unblogged. We’re often asked why people have engagement sessions. Jeff and I love having them because they let us get to know our clients a little bit better. It’s usually just us and the couple, and I love that it’s more like two couples hanging out than a production. It’s smoother, more organic. It also makes it more personal, and we feel the reactions we get are more real this way. We’re primarily documentarists when it comes to weddings, and it helps greatly to have couples who are comfortable enough with us to just be themselves around us. Engagement sessions help greatly to achieve that. But besides all that, they’re fun. Period.

Jong and Janah gave us so much in this that I can’t think of any other word to describe this shoot but EPIC. Couples who laugh out loud with ease and abandon are gold. Janah always struck me as fun and quirky. We only met Jong for a few minutes the first time we did, and he seemed a bit on the quiet side then so I wasn’t sure how Jeff and I were going to coax him out of his shell. Boy, was I wrong. Jong was more than up for anything, and he even had a few surprises up his cowboy sleeves too. They had us laughing so hard, my stomach hurt afterwards. This whole shoot reminded me of playground love. Not the song. Actual playground love. And I loved every last bit of it. These two are getting married before the month ends, and we’re so psyched for it, I feel like my head is going to explode. See you guys very soon!
