Allan and Mabel’s Engagement Shoot

Allan and Mabel found themselves seated next to each other on the first day of classes during their freshman year in college. The rest, as they say, is history. We shot this three weeks ago, during their 9th anniversary. They came all the way back from Singapore where they’re now based, and we were honored to be spending their day with them. It’s pretty awesome that we get to be a part of such significant days in all these wonderful people’s lives.

We get a kick out of shooting the shiny new couples — it’s exhilarating and one can’t help but get caught up in the energy. But at the same time, we enjoy shooting couples who’ve been together for a long time too. It’s comfortable and fluid. Lisa and I have been together for 11+ years now ourselves. How we are is pretty much the same way. In general, the vibe is more mellow, more serene. Time can do such beautiful things to a relationship, and theirs is no exception. Watching them and trying to imagine their life together, I couldn’t help but feel like wherever life takes them, as long as they’re together, they’ll always be home.

JV Roig - Wow, Allan and Mabs… (hey, haba na ng buhok ni mabs, haha, nice)… I am left breathless. I’d try to describe the pictures, but I don’t think I have enough awesomeness stored in my vocabulary to do the pictures justice – quite literally: a picture = 1,000 words… therefore 12 pictures = 12,000! My store of awesomeness in my vocabulary can’t possibly fill 12,000 words :D

Wow, it almost makes me want to switch careers and learn how to be a kick-ass photographer. But aside from the clearly superior photography skills of Jeff and Lisa, I’d postulate that what gives the pictures the quality of being “awesomeness redefined” is the very visible and almost tangible bond of love between Allan and Mabs. I am moved beyond words, so much that I will stare at the pictures appreciatively for the next 2 or 3 hours, even though I should be working. (Allan: I blame you for the almost-sure-to-ensue-chaos at my workplace hehe)

Allan, I’d have to say, during our high school days as we ate lunch and talked about the wonders of the PC gaming world, I never imagined really that something this awesome – you finding Mabs and Mabs finding you, and rainbows and butterflies and sunshine and flowing champagne and all that – would ever happen to anybody I know. Wow. Just wow.
