Elsewhere

We’re flying out to Ilocos later for an engagement shoot. I meant to blog a wedding today, but we haven’t even packed yet so that’s sooo not happening. Some of our work are published elsewhere though so I’ll redirect you there for now.

Those are some from Phil and Cess’ engagement session / family shoot with my favorite little Brit, Aaron. More photos can be found at Vatel Manila’s blog, here. We answered questions about the shoot as well, and gave tips on how to prepare for an engagement shoot (read: SLEEP!), you can read it all there.

Also, if you want to look at lovely brides and wedding dress eye candy, drop by Veluz’ blog here to see our Veluz brides. I’m posting some below, there’ll be more at her blog.

God, I miss everyone. Cess, I’m still willing to trade you Marbles for Aaron, just for a day or two. I promise not to lose him in any more elevators. Okay, it’s 3am and I really should sleep now. I’ve finally just caught up on all emails, I think. We’ll be posting pictures on Twitter during our overnight stay in Ilocos. You can follow Jeff here, and me here if you like. Have a great day, everyone!

Jeremy and Mimi’s Wedding

Preps: The Bellevue Manila
Ceremony: Notre Dame de Vie Chapel
Reception: Fernbrook Gardens
Videographer: Phoeben Teocson
Bridal Gown: Niko for Veluz

This wedding is definitely one of the most fun weddings we’ve ever covered. These two, their families and friends… they have what the French call joie de vivre in spades. When I say fun, I don’t ever mean that lightly. Fun is serious business for us wedding folks. Fun means emotions and personalities galore, and us photographers basically having what you might call a field day. I always say I love my job, because heaven knows I do, but these people made me appreciate it even more. There’s nothing like being surrounded by so much love and happiness. It’s very inspiring. Phoeben Teocson’s onsite video of this wedding is one of my favorite wedding videos of all time.

Jeremy and Mimi, it’s been awhile and this blog post may be a tad late, but I’m glad to be posting it at such a wonderful time in your lives. We saw Mimi’s Facebook update yesterday announcing that you’re having a baby boy. Congratulations! We’re so incredibly happy for you guys! And we’ve thanked you already before, but we’ll thank you once more for having us at your wedding. Going through your photos for the blog had me grinning from ear to ear all over again. Much, much love, always.

Gary and Aileen’s Wedding

Preps: The Peninsula Manila
Ceremony: Santuario de San Jose
Reception: Rigodon Ballroom, The Peninsula Manila
Bridal Gown: Veluz
Hair and Makeup: Gela Laurel

Jeff and I had a difficult time saying goodbye at this wedding. See, Gary and Janah are cousins, and Marie is their good friend. They all got married within months of each other, and all three with their now spouses just happen to be our clients. Gary and Aileen’s wedding was the last of the three, and I’ve gotten a bit attached to all of them even before then. There are no words for much we love these couples.

We’ve have been shooting weddings for almost two years now but we haven’t made an onsite slideshow ’till that day because it’s a bit stressful, making a slideshow on the spot, and I’d rather shoot more. But I wanted to make a little surprise for them so I thought to heck with it, why not. We finished burning the DVD literally 5 minutes before it had to show. 5 minutes! When they started showing it, the stress finally lifted and the realization that all their weddings were over hit me, and I may have teared up a bit. I’m such a big crybaby. (In other news, I’m so much faster at making onsite slideshows now and get quite the adrenaline rush from it. Woot!)

Gary and Aileen, thank you for having us at your wedding, for your engagement shoot that we very much adore, the wine, the email and postcard you sent us from your honeymoon in Maldives, and above all, the friendship. You make it so easy to be around you guys, and we consider ourselves very lucky to have been there with you during this part of your lives. Hope you guys are doing great in Bahrain. And as always, we miss you.

Javier and Marie’s Bohol Wedding, 12.08.09

Preps: Bohol Beach Club
Ceremony: Church of Our Lady of Assumption
Reception: Terraza de Mariveles

Jeff and I flew out the day before Javi and Marie’s wedding for their engagement shoot. Our flight was delayed, but we made it in time to catch two more hours of glorious Bohol sun, and shot one of our favorite engagement sessions to date. I’m sharing a few photos from that below. I’ll post more in our galleries soon as I get around to redesigning that.

This Bohol wedding was so much fun. We got to work with videographers (and newlyweds!) Bim and Gen Teocson, and hair and makeup artists Angie and Ogie again, who have become our destination wedding buddies of sorts. We somehow end up working on the same out of town weddings often. We joined them in Baguio shortly after, but that’s another blog post altogether. Dinner before the wedding was incredibly fun, and they had us laughing so hard I felt like my face was going to explode.

We woke up to a beautiful morning and joined the bride and groom at the Bohol Beach Club where we found the gorgeousness that is Veluz‘ work. (You can read her take on the wedding here.) I could take pictures of her gowns forever. Marie looked absolutely stunning in her dress, and Javi looked quite dashing in his Barong Tagalog as well. So many people flew in for their wedding, so much that practically everyone we were with at the airport flying in and out of Bohol was a guest of theirs. The mood was fun and lighthearted that day, and people partied the night away.

There was a flowergirl I absolutely adored. She fell madly in love with her dress; she looked at it and touched it with the kind of great awe only children can muster. She twirled around in it all night long, lost in her own little world. She got a picture of herself wearing her dress and the look on her face was so ‘Wow, I can’t believe this pretty girl is me’ that I just wanted to pick her up and hug her.

Javi and Marie, being a part of your wedding was such a treat for us. Thank you for having us there, and for the lovely emails you sent us when you got your DVDs. They were greatly appreciated, more than you know. We’ve missed you guys, and were happy to see Marie at Gary and Aileen’s wedding a couple of weeks ago. Wish you could’ve been there, Javi. We might be in Singapore this August, maybe we can catch up over coffee again. Much love from me and Jeff!
